Who knew eating food could become a blood sport? And who knew we would love it so much? Travel Channel welcomes back their resident over-eater, Mr. Adam Richman, for a second season of Man v. Food. The series debuted last season to higher ratings than any other show in the network’s history. The half hour series, depending on your personal views of food, is either a foodie-nightmare or gastro-wet dream.

The lead-up to the second season begins this evening at 8pm with four repeat episodes from season one (Denver, Seattle, Los Angeles & San Jose). The new season kicks off at 10pm in San Antonio where Richman takes on a 42-inch pizza, a burger topped with absurdly hot chilies and finally, for desert, a 3lb cinnamon roll. Yikes.

While not a fan of hot foods, we here at DVR Life are more than happy to cheer Adam on in his quest to find the hottest peppers, curries, etc. When it comes to the belly-busting attempts at mountains of food, we’re not ashamed to admit to more than a bit of armchair quarter-backing and saying to ourselves “I could totally eat that.” Bring it on, Travel Channel. Bring it on.

P.S. In case you weren’t aware, Travel Channel’s grouchy diner, Anthony Bourdain, is also travelling and eating for our delight with the second half of Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations season 5. DVR Life was a bit remiss in reminding you that the show returned last Monday (that would be a week ago day before last). Sorry about that.
