Castle Season Premiere Sneak Peek!

In 2009 Fall Season, ABC, Castle on 09/03/2009 at 11:31 am

Castle

Sexy is certainly not a crime!  Late August and early September is awash in promotional trailers for new and returning shows.  It’s nice when one actually stands out!  This new sneak peek at the return of ABC’s Castle, we must admit, had us laughing out loud throughout the nearly two minute run-time.  From the murmurs we’re hearing of those with season two screeners, this show is not going anywhere near a sophomore slump.

By the way, has anyone been reading Heat Wave as ABC has been posting the chapters?  We’ve been downloading them but have yet to actually read it.  We’ll get to it eventually, we swear!

Castle returns to ABC for it’s second season on Monday September 21st at 10pm.

Along with being the biggest month of the year for both series and season premiere’s for TV, September is also one of the biggest months for TV on DVD releases.  Don’t ask us why.  We think it’s kinda stupid to wait until September as, like we’ve already pointed out, the month is crammed with plenty of stuff to watch on TV AND it doesn’t give people much time to catch up before the next season begins, beyond the fact that it’s a wallet-buster.  It’s a massive month of overload, in our book.

But that doesn’t mean we can’t still be excited!  We’re especially looking forward to Fox’s mind-bending first season of Fringe, the fourth season of The CW’s cult-hit Supernatural (on blu-ray to boot!), Canadian sci-fi lite dramedy Being Erica‘s first season and, of course, the third season of NBC’s comedy giant 30 Rock.

In anticipation of the release of Fringe‘s first season on September 8th, they setup a cool website in which you can enter to win a visit to the show’s set in Vancouver, among other things.  Once you enter  you can watch a video about the difficulties of filming the episode The Ghost Network and then play a game which, if you answer correctly, gives you five extra entries into that set visit contest.  And here’s a little hint for our readers: you may wanna brush up on some episodes of ABC Family’s Greek for some help on the game.  Check out the site: Completethepattern.com

ABC Online Goodies!

ABC

Just a quick little post about some of the fun multimedia type things going on at ABC.com lately.  We first thought this would be post worthy when we recieved an email from The Mosaic Collective touting their new webpage.  Remember The Mosaic Collective?  We all signed up for their email list when those creepy commercials showed up during the 100th episode of Lost last season.  Yeah, now you remember.  They have another website now: http://www.jointhemosaic.com.

Lot’s of fun things to do on the new website.  It explains the concept of the show a bit more in depth, you can read others’ flashes in a few chart styles or on a globe, catch some videos, even document your own flash, if you so chose.  From there you can make your way to the Truth Hack site, which is a video blog/twitter feed about the global blackout (or GBO as the show has coined it).  Here’s Truth Hack’s first post:

Between those two sites and their respective youtube channels, you’ve got hours worth of videos and good stuff to check out.

If you’re more in the mood to curl up with a book on the couch, we wanted to remind everyone about the Nikki Heat book being published in anticipation of the upcoming second season of Castle.  Take a look at our earlier post about the novel here, if you missed it at the time, then go here to check out the novel.  They’ve already posted chapters one and two in nifty PDF files for your reading pleasure.

Finally, they’re trying to sign up Peace Ambassadors in anticipation of V, though we can’t get the ‘click here to sign up’ button work.  How bout you?

ABC Goes Old School With Castle

In 2009 Fall Season, ABC, Castle on 07/01/2009 at 3:04 am

I’m not sure if this should be listed under “Hey that was my idea”, “Good use of corporate synergy” or “Way to think outside the box.”

ABC has announced that they’ll be publishing the latest Richard Castle novel. You’re pretty familiar with the literary world and you’re wondering who’s Richard Castle? Well, then you’re probably reading the wrong blog. Richard Castle is the fictional best-selling crime novelist and namesake of ABC’s cop dramedy Castle. If you missed the series’ freshman season last year, here’s a pretty good reason to get caught up.

ABC is teaming up with publishing company Hyperion who is owned by Disney, ABC’s parent company to publish the first real Richard Castle novel, entitled “Heat Wave”, first on the net and then in print. The ABC website will debut the first chapter August 10th and then premiere one new chapter each week for a total of 10 weeks. The full novel will then be published by Hyperion on September 29th.

The novel will be a stand alone tale that relates to the actual TV show. No word on who is actually writing the novel.

And we here at DVR Life would just like to say that we totally thought of this. Well, while watching Castle last season, we actually thought to ourselves how cool it would be if the writers of the show would publish an e-book version of the novels the characters would talk about on the show…You know, just for fun. ABC, of course, has to go all money making style and actually publish a real book, but you know…Maybe Mickey Mouse can read our thoughts or something.

The second season of Castle is set to debut Monday September 21st.

ABC Renews Castle, Scrubs & Better Off Ted

In ABC, Better Off Ted, Castle, Scrubs on 05/16/2009 at 1:42 am

Word just came down a few hours ago that ABC has renewed new semi-quirky cop show “Castle” for a second season as well work place comedy that thankfully isn’t a mockumentary (though the main character does talk to the camera) “Better Off Ted” for season 2. “Scrubs” has also officially been picked up for a 9th season. Surprising considering everyone swore season 7 would be it’s last til ABC swooped into NBC territory and saved for it, announcing it would have an 8th and probably final season. The fact that it made it to season 9 means it’s the show with as many lives as a freakin cat.

Gotta say I’m pretty happy to hear “Better Off Ted” made it through for another year. It’s probably my favorite comedy to premiere for in the 2008/09 season.

Incoming!

In 24, Breaking Bad, Castle, Cold Case, Cupid, Fringe, House, Medium, Rescue Me, Saving Grace, Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip, The Unit on 04/12/2009 at 7:26 pm

Slim pickings tonight (Sunday), people. As usual, CBS is running behind due to sports (golf, I believe), so adjust your DVR’s as necessary The Unit and Cold Case fans.

I’ve actually given up watching Cold Case due to so many episodes being cutoff because of sports. I try to DVR The Unit and sometimes I remember to fix the end time but usually it’s torrent time! Hopefully now that I no longer work Sunday nights my average will get better.

And don’t forget Breaking Bad. While I love this show, it’s one of the few that I prefer to backup a bit on my DVR and watch a few episodes back to back.

Monday:
House. I’m hoping they don’t waste too much time on House’s murder theory. While last week’s episode was quite fantastic, I thought that was the one weak part.

24. It’s getting really late! Jon Voight was scarily awesome last week as Jonas Hodges and I’m hoping he keeps it up for this episode. I’m also hoping someone finally sees Olivia Taylor as the snake she seems to be. I’m wondering if this week may finally see the return of Kim Bauer, too. Hopefully so.

Medium. Ah, Allison, the love of my life. A little back and forth this week as Allison gets to relive her pregnancy. It was rather disturbing when Marie crept into Allison and Joe‘s bedroom with that gun. Now we get to see pre-Marie.

Castle. Last week we were treated an ice pop druggie that no one bothered looking for and this week we are given a ritualistic killing. Behold the ups and downs of the modern cop drama.

Saving Grace. We’re creeping up on Leon‘s final hours – will Grace have a revelation and step in? I’m wondering how rough the back and forth between Leon and Earl as time reaches the midnight hour.

Tuesday:
Fringe. I still haven’t watched last week’s episode. I had to download the torrent after returning home from work to realize the last 7 or so minutes were cut off by the ultimate in “illiterate programming”. Way to force me into being illegal, Fox.

Rescue Me. Ah, finally. After a really lengthy hiatus, last week’s episode was chock full of back story and a few new surprises. I don’t about anyone else but Chief Feinberg has been creeping me out. Obviously, Tommy‘s gonna keep his job or there wouldn’t be a show but I suspect the upcoming Section 8 hearing will be a laugher. I’m really looking forward to Tommy learning of Black Shawn and his daughters relationship, as well.

Cupid. We’re up to the third episode and I’m digging it. Sarah Paulson is not quite as cute as she was in Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip due to her characters jaded attitude but Bobby Cannavale‘s sweetly determined Eros/Trevor balances her out quite well.

Get them at iTunes.
