Tonight: The Good Wife & The Forgotten

The Good Wife

We’re pretty excited for tonight!  This evening marks the premiere of The Good Wife on CBS and, we have to admit, we’ve been looking forward to this show for quite some time.  The cast includes some of our favorite actors of all time, the promotional trailers look fantastic and even the artwork (see above) is looking pretty awesome.  Oh, and the concept sounds pretty good, too!

The Good Wife premieres tonight, Tuesday September 22nd at 10pm on CBS.

But wait!  Get your DVR’s ready because there’s also a new series on ABC this evening: The Forgotten.  Or ‘The forgotten‘ as it’s showing up on our Program Guide.  Nobody seems to know much about this series as the pilot was reshot after the lead character was recast with Christian Slater.

From all the trailers we’ve come across, it seems to be a serial in the vein of CBS’ Cold Case about regular folk who help find…well, the forgotten.  Check out some trailers we posted here and here.

The Forgotten premieres this evening, Tuesday September 22nd at 10pm on ABC.

CBS Renews Cold Case

In 2009 Upfronts, CBS, Cold Case, Programming on 05/18/2009 at 9:39 pm

CBS squared up the rest of it’s 2009 season today. They officially renewed long-runner “Cold Case”. Though the series has been a hard worker for the network since 2003, there was some question as to whether it would return for a seventh year. The series has been paired up with “Without A Trace” in the past and, lately, with “The Unit”, both of which will not be returning next season.

The show premiered in the Sunday 8pm timeslot way back in ought three before moving to it’s current Sunday 9pm slot in the 2006 season, so I assume it’ll probably stay in place next season. It’s a shame, though, as I pointed out with The Unit, shows airing on Sunday evenings are given a hard time when afternoon sports broadcasts run late. It’s the reason a good show like “Cold Case” is no longer set to record on my DVR.

There’s only so many times I’m willing to press play and find annoying reality TV competitions in Detective Lilly’s place before removing a series from my record list.

The network also picked up another drama, a fast paced medical drama called “Miami Trauma”. It may just be me, but I tend to find series with a city name in the title to be pretty lame and to be an absolutely terrible representation of what a city is actually like. Hopefully they won’t take the cheap-skate, lame production way out and film it in L.A. with canned location shots. Knowing CBS and it’s geriatric audience, I’m assuming this show will be less entertaining than NBC’s planned “Trauma” but will slaughter it in the ratings anyway.

There is one light in the tunnel, though: word is the network is looking at drama titled “House Rules” about freshman politicians in the U.S. Congress. I’m a sucker for political shows.

CBS will have it’s upfront this Wednesday. I’m looking forward to final word on “The Unit” as well as the just mentioned “House Rules”.

Incoming!

In 24, Breaking Bad, Castle, Cold Case, Cupid, Fringe, House, Medium, Rescue Me, Saving Grace, Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip, The Unit on 04/12/2009 at 7:26 pm

Slim pickings tonight (Sunday), people. As usual, CBS is running behind due to sports (golf, I believe), so adjust your DVR’s as necessary The Unit and Cold Case fans.

I’ve actually given up watching Cold Case due to so many episodes being cutoff because of sports. I try to DVR The Unit and sometimes I remember to fix the end time but usually it’s torrent time! Hopefully now that I no longer work Sunday nights my average will get better.

And don’t forget Breaking Bad. While I love this show, it’s one of the few that I prefer to backup a bit on my DVR and watch a few episodes back to back.

Monday:
House. I’m hoping they don’t waste too much time on House’s murder theory. While last week’s episode was quite fantastic, I thought that was the one weak part.

24. It’s getting really late! Jon Voight was scarily awesome last week as Jonas Hodges and I’m hoping he keeps it up for this episode. I’m also hoping someone finally sees Olivia Taylor as the snake she seems to be. I’m wondering if this week may finally see the return of Kim Bauer, too. Hopefully so.

Medium. Ah, Allison, the love of my life. A little back and forth this week as Allison gets to relive her pregnancy. It was rather disturbing when Marie crept into Allison and Joe‘s bedroom with that gun. Now we get to see pre-Marie.

Castle. Last week we were treated an ice pop druggie that no one bothered looking for and this week we are given a ritualistic killing. Behold the ups and downs of the modern cop drama.

Saving Grace. We’re creeping up on Leon‘s final hours – will Grace have a revelation and step in? I’m wondering how rough the back and forth between Leon and Earl as time reaches the midnight hour.

Tuesday:
Fringe. I still haven’t watched last week’s episode. I had to download the torrent after returning home from work to realize the last 7 or so minutes were cut off by the ultimate in “illiterate programming”. Way to force me into being illegal, Fox.

Rescue Me. Ah, finally. After a really lengthy hiatus, last week’s episode was chock full of back story and a few new surprises. I don’t about anyone else but Chief Feinberg has been creeping me out. Obviously, Tommy‘s gonna keep his job or there wouldn’t be a show but I suspect the upcoming Section 8 hearing will be a laugher. I’m really looking forward to Tommy learning of Black Shawn and his daughters relationship, as well.

Cupid. We’re up to the third episode and I’m digging it. Sarah Paulson is not quite as cute as she was in Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip due to her characters jaded attitude but Bobby Cannavale‘s sweetly determined Eros/Trevor balances her out quite well.
