Heroes - Redemption

While we didn’t find last week’s season premiere of NBC’s Heroes to reach mind-blowing levels, we were rather happy to see the characters return to the the whole “everyday people with extraordinary abilities” thing.  Unfortunately for Mr. Kring, it may be a bit too late.  The show averaged just about 6 million viewers.  While a network like The CW would do back flips through a raging fire for numbers like that, it’s not considered very good for a two hour season premiere for a show that averaged nearly 14 million viewers it’s first season.

Zachary Quinto Gets A Little Crazy (NSFW)

In 2009 Fall Season, Funnyordie, Heroes, NBC, Pulp Fiction on 09/04/2009 at 4:15 pm

I think this might be our very first R-rated post!  Just to warn you upfront, this video is so very NOT SAFE FOR WORK or WATCHING IN FRONT OF YOU MOM.  Make sure you lock the door or put your headphones on.  Whatever you gotta do.

What we have here is Mr. Zachary Quinto, better known as evil-badass Sylar on NBC’s Heroes.  The video comes off as a kind of absurdist Pulp Fiction-esque good time.  He curses a whole lot and threatens people like there’s not tomorrow.  Lot’s of screaming and an ending that was rather predictible but completely unavoidable.  It’s pretty funny so get your lol’s and start rofl’ing.

Heroes returns with a two hour premiere for it’s fourth season on Monday September 21st at 8pm on NBC.

Along with being the biggest month of the year for both series and season premiere’s for TV, September is also one of the biggest months for TV on DVD releases.  Don’t ask us why.  We think it’s kinda stupid to wait until September as, like we’ve already pointed out, the month is crammed with plenty of stuff to watch on TV AND it doesn’t give people much time to catch up before the next season begins, beyond the fact that it’s a wallet-buster.  It’s a massive month of overload, in our book.

But that doesn’t mean we can’t still be excited!  We’re especially looking forward to Fox’s mind-bending first season of Fringe, the fourth season of The CW’s cult-hit Supernatural (on blu-ray to boot!), Canadian sci-fi lite dramedy Being Erica‘s first season and, of course, the third season of NBC’s comedy giant 30 Rock.

In anticipation of the release of Fringe‘s first season on September 8th, they setup a cool website in which you can enter to win a visit to the show’s set in Vancouver, among other things.  Once you enter  you can watch a video about the difficulties of filming the episode The Ghost Network and then play a game which, if you answer correctly, gives you five extra entries into that set visit contest.  And here’s a little hint for our readers: you may wanna brush up on some episodes of ABC Family’s Greek for some help on the game.  Check out the site: Completethepattern.com

New Heroes Trailer

Heroes - Redemption

After the disaster that is the new poster, we’re pretty glad to see this official trailer for the upcoming season of Heroes.  The producers and network seem to be using this promo to assure fans that the show is returning to it’s roots of “everyday people with extraordinary abilities.”  Here’s hoping it works.

Heroes - Redemption

So…I really want to try and stay tactful here with this post.  It’s kinda hard, though, because as I write this in the little box thing-y that I write posts in, I have a massive serving of cleavage just above the words I’m typing.  The box isn’t big enough to fit anything above the neck so I’m just face to face with boobs.  It’s very distracting… I think I’m creeping myself out.

Maybe that’s what NBC was going for?  Creepy old sci-fi dudes?  I just read a news article yesterday that said the average gamer is 35 years old, over weight and depressed.  Are they Heroes‘ target audience?  If so, homerun NBC Universal art department!  Give yourselves a round of applause.

Preview: Heroes Season 4 Promo

In 2009 Fall Season, Heroes, NBC, Sci-Fi on 07/29/2009 at 2:28 pm

Here we go folks: Welcome to a first look at season 4 of Heroes. Most exciting aspect? The addition of Prison Break‘s Robert Knepper as an evil Carnie leader. Probably not worth all the hype it’s getting? Claire’s sapphic college experiences. Glad to see Madeline Zima of Californication and The Nanny as her roommate, though.

We’re hoping people start coming back to Heroes. Yeah, it faltered a bit the last two seasons or so, but those who stuck it out know that it was worth it and, hopefully, this next season the show will turn itself around, even if Bryan Fuller did bail.

Heroes + SNL: The Lonely Heroes

In Heroes, Mashup, Saturday Night Live, Twitter, Video on 05/27/2009 at 12:16 am

Came across a great video mashup featuring footage from “Heroes” and the song “Jizz In My Pants” from “Saturday Night Live”.

Great footage, decent syncing and funny idea. Even better is the fact that I found this video via Greg Grunberg’s (aka Heroes mind reader Matt Parkman) twitter feed.

NBC Stars In Commercials

In Chuck, Commercials, Heroes, NBC on 04/28/2009 at 2:44 am

Being a DVR addict, I rarely see commercials…Usually just when I’m in the midst of doing something with the TV on in the background, not really paying attention, or when watching something on the DVR and not being able to find the remote come fast forward time.

For the last two weeks I had been seeing the Greg Grunberg (Matt Parkman) Insight commercial during Heroes and then today I just happened to catch it during a rerun that was playing while writing a previous post. This evening while watching Law & OrderGossip Girl on the DVR I was scrambling to find the remote and wait…is that Hayden Panettiere on this cell phone commercial?

Youtube…search…Hayden…how the hell do you spell that?…Panettiere…at&t…It is!

And then there was the related video, another Insight commercial featuring Chuck‘s Zachary Levi. Huh. NBC stars are really getting out there. I wonder, though, if this is all just coincidence or if NBC is making deals for it’s actors. The fact that both Greg Grunberg and Zachary Levi are in commercials for the same car, in the same ad campaign, makes me think so. But where does the phone commercial fit in and why haven’t I caught it on NBC yet?

Update:5/05/09 Just caught a new Neutrogena Deep Clean Cream Cleanser starring Hayden Panettiere. She’s actually been a spokesperson for a while now, but this is the first new one in quite some time. Funny, too, is that it aired during Gossip Girl, the same show her cell phone ad ran on.

Heroes Cops Out

In Heroes, NBC, Season Finale on 04/27/2009 at 10:38 pm

Tonight’s season finale of Heroes was pretty fantastic at times. The death of Nathan, Peter‘s limo surprise for Sylar, seeing the syringe disappear from Danko‘s hand, Parkman erasing Sylar’s mind, the cleansing bonfire, the surprise return of Nikki. Good stuff all around.

Except for the one scene which could have probably been the greatest the series had ever seen.

I’m talking about when Peter and Nathan tag teamed Sylar in the hotel room, of course. Their walk and talk down the long hotel corridor, the build up, I was expecting a battle of biblical proportions, a fight to end all fights…And we got blue light shining on Claire‘s eyeball. What a freakin’ cop out.

Whether it was budget cuts or time constraints it was pretty disappointing. The story lines for both the end of Volume 4 and the beginning of Volume 5 lived up to my expectations. It’s a shame the execution didn’t.

Heroes Tonight

In Heroes, NBC on 04/13/2009 at 3:30 pm

I somehow forgot to mention Heroes in my previous post. After they fired the writing staff a few months back I was worried about continuity. I wasn’t sure a new team could pick up where the previous left off and keep the quality. Granted, things were getting a bit slow, so I’m happy they made the change and things seem to be picking up.

I’ve been really enjoying the Rebel story line. They should have created a promotional campaign around it – I think it could have rivaled “Save The Cheerleader, Save The World“. I’m picturing NBC Nightly News commercials being hacked into, ghost text messages to fans, et al. Anyone at NBC listening? Probably not.

Last week’s episode ended with Petrelli family in some kind of abandoned compound called Coyote Sands, lover lorn duo Danko and Noah at war and Ando and Hiro delivering Baby Matt Parkman to Matt Parkman.

I’m guessing Coyote Sands is either where they created the superhumans or an internment camp from a previously failed attempt to corral them. The Matt Parkman Sr. and Jr. storyline could be exciting. I’d love to see what happens when they, er, work together…as much as a toddler can participate with an adult and I’m guessing Noah is on his way to Coyote Sands to team up with the Petrelli’s and Mohinder (who set his sites on the compound last week) to officially declare war on Danko. Exciting.

Heoes on iTunes.
