Sneak Peek At Grey’s Anatomy Season Premiere

In 2009 Fall Season, ABC, Grey's Anatomy, One Tree Hill, The CW on 09/16/2009 at 3:21 pm

Grey's Anatomy

In preparation of the upcoming fall TV season network heads have been trying out a new approach: teasing people with the first four or five minutes of the upcoming season premiere.  I wanna go on record here and say that I don’t like it.  I didn’t watch when The CW posted the first couple of minutes of this week’s One Tree Hill season premiere and I’m not gonna watch this here five-something minute clip from the sixth season premiere of Grey’s Anatomy.  I prefer to witness it live, in HD, when it airs.  That doesn’t mean we won’t give you the chance to see it, though:

Vodpod videos no longer available.

Grey’s Anatomy returns for it’s sixth season on ABC with a two hour premiere on Thursday September 24th at 9pm.

Gossip Girl Returns!

In 2009 Fall Season, Firefly, Gilmore Girls, Gossip Girl, One Tree Hill, Sonic Youth, Teen Soaps, The CW on 09/14/2009 at 12:15 pm

Gossip Girl

Hopefully you caught our One Tree Hill roundup earlier.  We’re now moving on to Gossip Girl!  The CW has been slightly stingy when it comes to promotional trailers for the upcoming third season of the show.  Of course, there’s the slew of WTF trailers they posted to their youtube channel, but not a peep since, unless you count behind the scenes trailers.  We don’t really count them, though as…well, we don’t really like behind the scenes stuff too much here at DVR Life.  We tend to feel like they kind of kill the magic in a whole you don’t know wanna know what’s in that hotdog kinda way.  There was a pretty funny Chuck Bass appearance on Jimmy Fallon the other night, though.

Others news surrounding this season of Gossip Girl has been related to guest appearances and casting, mainly.  We learned that, even though she’s now starring in NBC’s upcoming medical drama Mercy, Michelle Trachtenburg will be making an appearance as Blair’s college dorm-mate.  Blair’s reaction to that news will be beyond priceless, I’m sure.  In the realm of brilliant casting, Firefly‘s Gina Torres has been cast for multiple episodes as Vanessa’s mother.

Gina Tores

Outside of character casting, there’s the gay storyline spoiler floating around and, what we’re most excited about: the awesomeness of a Sonic Youth guest appearance!  The band will be playing their song Starpower off their 1986 album Evol.  This should be even better than their short spot on Gilmore Girls a few years back!

And just in case you needed it, here’s the season three up to speed trailer:

Gossip Girl returns for it’s third season tonight, September 14th at 9pm on The CW.

One Tree Hill Returns!

In 2009 Fall Season, BBC America, British TV, Gossip Girl, Lipstick Jungle, Melrose Place, One Tree Hill, Skins, The CW, Vampire Diaries on 09/14/2009 at 11:08 am

One Tree Hill

The drama returns!  Tonight marks the return of The CW’s Monday night power duo featuring long-runner One Tree Hill and pop-culture phenom Gossip Girl. We hope you’re ready for the all drama: We certainly are!  While BBC’s Skins has been keeping our teen drama levels from sinking too low and The CW’s premieres of Melrose Place and The Vampire Diaires last week were helpful, we’re ready for some good old American-style overload.

One Tree Hill

Let’s get started with a quick One Tree Hill roundup:

First, we were super excited to learn that Skills would be returning to Tree Hill for a seventh season despite Antwon Tanner’s legal issues.  There was also a whole bunch of promotional trailers posted to The CW’s official youtube channel, including the first four minutes of season 7 episode 1.  There were also not one or two, but three really short teasers they released early this summer.  Also, despite the Brian Austin Green tease, we’re excited to have Lipstick Jungle‘s Robert Buckley joining the cast and curious as to how long Shantel VanSanten will be sticking around as Haley’s older sis, Quinn.  And just in case you missed anything, here’s the season 7 up to speed trailer:

And here’s One Tree Hill creator Mark Schwahn describing a scene entitled 4:30am (Apparently They Were Traveling Abroad).  On a side note, I like knowing that the creator of a show is still around at the seventh season.  That seems so rare!

One Tree Hill returns for it’s seventh season tonight, September 14th at 8pm on The CW.

Skills Returning To One Tree Hill!!!

In 2009 Fall Season, One Tree Hill, The CW, Twitter on 09/10/2009 at 3:59 am

Holy crap!  The CW posted a behind the scenes video yesterday of One Tree Hill featuring Antwon Tanner!  If you’re in the know, then you’re already aware of Tanner’s legal issues.  Because of those issues most OTH fans, myself included, assumed Skills would be no longer be on the show.  We’re pretty stoked to learn otherwise.

Just last night in a heated OTH conversation via twitter, a few us TV nerds were mourning the loss of the Skills/Jamie duo that we’ve all come to know and love over the last two seasons.  While Brooke, Nathan and Haley may be the show’s main draw, we all agreed that the chemistry and scenes between Skills and young Jamie were a highlight of the show.  Good to know they’ll be back!

Here’s the video, called Nekkidness:

One Tree Hill returns for it’s seventh season next Monday, September 14th at 8pm on The CW.

New One Tree Hill Clips

In 2009 Fall Season, One Tree Hill, Teen Soaps, The CW on 09/02/2009 at 7:51 pm

One Tree Hill

The first clip is a real treat: the opening of the season seven premiere.  Clip two gives us a look at Lipstick Jungle‘s Robert Buckley as Nate’s new manager and he’s checking out Shantel VanSanten as Quinn, Haley’s older sister!  From there on in, we get treated some Brooke and Haley girl talk, some practice time and some kind of joke that I think you have to know something about sports to understand.  All good stuff.

Vampire Diaries – Squeamish

In 2009 Fall Season, 2009 Pilots, One Tree Hill, Roswell, Supernatural, Teen Soaps, The CW, Vampire Diaries on 08/27/2009 at 10:04 am

Vampire Diaries

I am not gonna lie – of all the teen soaps set to premiere this fall I’m most looking forward to Vampire Diaries.  From the trailers and promotional material I’ve come across, it seems to have a very Roswell meets One Tree Hill with vampires quality to it.  I dig all three of those factors, so I’m guessing it’ll be looked forward to on a weekly basis.  Plus it’s teamed up with Supernatural, so it’s gonna be a very horrorific evening each and every Thursday.

Vampire Diaries premieres Thursday September 10th at 8pm on The CW, followed by the season fifth premiere of Supernatural.

New One Tree Hill Promos

In 2009 Fall Season, One Tree Hill, Preview, The CW on 08/24/2009 at 11:44 am

One Tree Hill

Two new promotional trailers for The CW’s soapy One Tree Hill.  We don’t wanna spoil anything but these promos hint towards some Nathan infidelity – yikes!  The second trailer closely resembles the first 2009 season promo we posted a while back, but the Nathan/Haley exchange is new.  Since that one was released first, it didn’t make much sense until we saw the other with the question of Nate sleeping with someone (please say it ain’t so!).

One Tree Hill returns for it’s seventh season Monday September 24th at it’s new time, 8pm.

Sneak Peek: Metallo On Smallville

In 2009 Fall Season, 90210, Beverly Hills 90210, One Tree Hill, Smallville, Terminator Sarah Connor Chronicles, The CW on 08/19/2009 at 4:51 pm

TV Guide has delivered a first look at new Smallville bad-guy Metallo, played by Brian Austin Green.  The character is a new reporter at The Daily Planet named John Corben.  After an accident he’s given a heart full o’ kryptonite.  Just what Clark needed, right?  Green’s two episode arc begins with  the season opener September 25th, but Guide got an exec-producer to admit that they’re looking for him to return.

As previously reported, the actor was in talks to join The CW’s One Tree Hill as Nathan’s wild-style b-ball agent.  Unfortunately, his reps nixed the idea, which we questioned, but after seeing this pic of robo-Green, we’re kind of impressed.  Not that we take it back.  We dug sci-fi Green on Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, but we still yearn for his teen soap days ala Beverly Hills 90210.  Thank the TV gods he’s didn’t go to 90210 (the remake)- I bet you they asked!

Smallville returns for it’s ninth (yikes!  That’s a really long run for any show, let alone a teen-oriented one!) season Friday September 25th at 9pm on The CW.

Also, check DVR Life tomorrow for you chance to win a DVD box set of Smallville Season 8!

New One Tree Hill Promo!

In 2009 Fall Season, One Tree Hill, Preview, Teen Soaps, The CW on 08/11/2009 at 2:22 pm

Season 7!

So…new One Tree Hill promo. It’s full of hot, steamy, rolling on the beach passion. Brooke and Julian, in a loving embrace, wondering why they’ve stayed in Tree Hill post Peyton. Short but sweet.

What kinda surprises us is the promo makes no mention of Haley nor Nathan’s rise in the NBA or his Lucas-replacing friend, played by Lipstick Jungle‘s Robert Buckley. I’m sure we’ll be treated to a more comprehensive advertising campaign as the series return date nears, but who wants to wait?

One Tree Hill returns at 8pm Monday, September 14th on The CW

Preview: Vampire Diaries

In 2009 Fall Season, 2009 Pilots, One Tree Hill, Preview, Teen Soaps, The CW, Vampire Diaries on 06/23/2009 at 1:36 pm

The CW’s bloody teen-soap Vampire Diaries is getting some good hype for it’s coming fall premiere. With the success of all things vampire these days, I don’t imagine much going wrong for all those involved. Around upfronts time the network released a few short clips but there’s now an extended clip that’s painting a broader (and better) view of the show.

My initial thoughts based on the clip? Early One Tree Hill with fangs. Dueling brothers in a small town, one good, one bad, cute girls, bad soundtrack, high school angst and even crows – they’ve got it all. And that’s not a bad thing.

Also discovered today (via The Televixen), some sexy new ads for the show. The design is very CW, reminiscent of Gossip Girl and One Tree Hill ads from the past.

They are not, however, in the same format as other official CW ads for the 2009 Fall season, so no idea if they’re fan work or legit. See what you think:

(Update: It’s been confirmed, these are legit. 6/30/09)

Possibly Not Official:

And finally, the extended clip:

In 2009 Fall Season, 2009 Pilots, Gossip Girl, Melrose Place, One Tree Hill, Smallville, Supernatural, The Beautiful Life, The CW, Vampire Diaries on 06/17/2009 at 12:07 am

The CW announced it’s Fall 2009 premiere dates, including a flip flop for teeny-soap hits Gossip Girl and One Tree Hill. Not sure what’s behind the changed but I don’t mind long as the two are still paired up.

Also check out the new poster for season 7 of One Tree Hill above. It’s a bit sparse without Chad Michael Murray and Hilarie Burton. If you look real closely at the credits, there’s no mention of Antwon Tanner, though I’m not sure if he’s ever been a starring cast member.

Below are the official premiere dates:

Tues. Sept. 8th
8PM – 90210
9PM – Melrose Place

Thurs. Sept. 10
8PM – Vampire Diaries

Brian Austin Green Not Joining One Tree Hill Cast

In Lipstick Jungle, NBC, One Tree Hill, Teen Soaps, The CW on 06/11/2009 at 2:11 am

According to Michael Ausiello, “Green’s reps got cold feet and pulled out of the deal.”

What is there to get cold feet about? Are they afraid of putting him back on a teen drama? Did he not wanna move to North Carolina? I think it was great casting and they’ve made a mistake.

The slot is now set to be filled by Lipstick Jungle’s Robert Buckley, the young artist/boyfriend.

Brian Austin Green Joining One Tree Hill Cast

In One Tree Hill, Teen Soaps, The CW on 06/02/2009 at 12:41 am

Brian Austin Green, coming off the cancellation of Sarah Connor Chronicles, may be joining the cast of The CW’s One Tree Hill. The show’s seventh season will air in the fall.

The Hollywood Reporter says the character, Clayton, is “a brash sports agent who represents Nathan Scott’s (James Lafferty) basketball interests and has become a close friend, ally, business partner and advisor to him while also enjoying the spoils that come from being a wealthy, handsome single guy.”

Some seem to be wondering how things will work out for the show with the departure of original cast members Chad Michael Murray and Hilarie Burton. I’m personally wondering what is going on with Antwon Tanner since his arrest and if Skills will be returning. Truthfully, long as Sophia Bush is around I’m loving the show.

Earlier this week, though I was too lazy to post, Connor Chroncles’ Summer Glau is also said to be joining up with Fox’s sci-fi series Dollhouse. Her addition to the sophomore year will be celebrated, I’m sure. Executive producer Joss Whedon told news sources he’s planning on removing Glau from her type-cast robo-woman of few words and creating a very talkative, outgoing character for her. Glau is apparently excited for the chance.

Skills Pleads Innocent in SSN Scam

In One Tree Hill, The CW on 04/18/2009 at 1:59 am

Antwon Tanner, better known as Skills from CW‘s One Tree Hill (one of my favorites) was busted for selling social security numbers. Weird. He apparently passed a mix of fake numbers and real ones from both living and dead people to an unnamed accomplice who then sold them to an undercover ICE agent.

He surrendered yesterday to a Brooklyn Federal court, plead not guilty and is out on $250,000 bond. The indictment states Tanner made thousands of dollars on this scam between December 2005 and July 2008. Word is all transactions took place through the mail and Tanner never actually met the accomplice or the agent.

I can’t imagine why he would be involved in something like this. One Tree Hill can’t pay that badly. No word from The CW or One Tree Hill producers. What’s next? Mouth arrested for selling untaxed cigarettes? Peyton busted for selling bootleg copies of Fallout Boy CD’s on 14th St?

Read the two indictments
