Weekend Update desk

With SNL Weekend Update Thursday Edition premiering for a short run this evening, we thought we’d share this little blooper reel.  The bloopers are taken from dress rehearsals and feature Seth Myers and Amy Poehler, both of whom will be on the show tonight.  We’re keeping our fingers crossed for some Poehler rapping.

NBC

For those not up on geek-speak, FTW means ‘For The Win’, as in, it’s gonna freakin’ rule tonight when NBC’s fall 2009 comedy season begins!  We hope you have your DVR’s set for some good laughs and some intelligent comedies.  Let’s break it down:

Amy Poehler Returns To SNL Weekend Update This Fall

Everything kicks off at 8pm with SNL Weekend Update Thursday Edition.  Don’t forget that Amy Poehler will make guest appearances in atleast two of the three upcoming episodes of SNL WUTE.  Not to distract from her scripted series, Parks & Recreation, but Poehler really tends to shine anytime she appears on Weekend Update, in our opinion.

And speaking of Parks & Recreation, Poehler’s pulling double duty in the 8-9pm hour this evening as the sophomo

Parks and Recreation

We are really hoping for the best when it comes to the second season of NBC’s Parks and Recreation.  While most people tend to fear shows will go into a sophomore slump, we here at DVR Life feel that Parks and Recreation had kind of a rough freshman year and are looking forward to the show growing into itself and maturing for it’s second time around.  We admit that the premise of the show (work place location, faux-documentary style, office-boob that doesn’t know they’re annoying everyone around them) made the show seem a bit contrived at first, but the story lines started standing a bit on their own the further the season went on and we’re hoping this time they’ll really make it stand out.

One step towards standing out is a character rapping Parent’s Just Don’t Understand.  That’s a good start for us:

Parks and Recration begins it’s second season on Thursday September 17th at 8:30pm on NBC.

You can also see P&R star Amy Poehler in the first two episodes of NBC’s upcoming Saturday Night Live Weekend Update Thursday Edition beginning Thursday September 17th at 8pm.

Amy Poehler Returns To SNL Weekend Update This Fall

Michael Ausiello, the master of TV related scoops, of course, has announced that Amy Poehler is headed back to the SNL Weekend Update desk this fall. In a master stroke of corporate synergy genius, Poehler will be sharing the anchor desk once again with old pal Seth Myers during the first and second weeks of Saturday Night Live Weekend Update Thursday starting September 17th.

The first episode of SNL WUT (sounds like something Amy & Seth would rap about, right?) will premiere at 8pm September 17th, right before the second season premiere of Poehler’s Parks and Recreation (which is then followed by the premiers of The Office and Community – gonna be a big night for comedy, eh?).  SNL WUT is scheduled for a three week run and, according to Ausiello, Poehler’s only doing the first two weeks…Seems odd they wouldn’t go for the trifecta.
